Anika Nilles Drum Clinic

Last thursday was a first for me in two ways, my first time visiting Graham Russell Drums in Fareham and seeing Anika perform at her first clinic tour in the UK.

Anika has become a Youtube star performing and writing her own music, Alter Ego has to be my favourite:

Travelling with a friend of mine we decided to go earlier and spend some time checking out Graham's wares. Coming up to the front door we were greeted by the sound of Anika in soundcheck! Despite feeling like we were intruding, Graham gave us a very hospitable welcome and encouraged us to look around. I was extremely pleased to see a wide variety of Meinl Byzance series instore. Ben Alldred from D'addario UK was even on hand and helped me pick out my perfect ride: the transition ride!

Anika's clinic was really inspirational she started off playing to some of her own music that she is known for. In the middle she played a solo experiment with a lot of unusual patterns accross quintuplets. There was a Q and A session also, Anika went into great detail from each question and left me with plenty of ideas to work.
